Associated British Ports has launched a non-statutory consultation on the proposed Solent Gateway 2 - a transformative development that promises to enhance port infrastructure, boost capacity, and unlock new opportunities for maritime growth across the Solent region.

Running until 13th October 2025, the consultation invites feedback on ABP's emerging proposals to deliver a sustainable automotive terminal, new marine facilities, and improved road access to the existing Solent Gateway site.

The plans also include environmental enhancements and the creation of a major new country park.

Solent Gateway already plays a vital role in supporting jobs, trade, and industry across the UK. The proposed expansion aims:
Strengthen the Solent’s position as a national logistics and transport hub
Support the armed forces and national resilience
Create new jobs and drive growth in the region’s core sector - maritime
Improve connectivity and reduce traffic through Marchwood with a new direct access route from the A326
Deliver landscape improvements, habitat protection, and enhanced walking and cycling routes
