Maritime UK South West, the South West’s dedicated maritime cluster for skills and innovation, has published the UK’s first maritime careers magazine, named ‘Navigator’, for schools, thanks to funding from the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom.

Earlier this year Maritime UK South West was awarded £85,000 from the Department of Transport as part of an initiative to grow economies in coastal areas around the UK. ‘Navigator’ magazine is designed to inspire anyone considering maritime by looking at the breadth of careers available in the South West, from marine manufacturing, building new boats, ships and submarines to
protecting wildlife like marine mammals and ocean science.

Alongside the magazine, MUKSW have also commissioned a series of maritime careers case study videos – the first six videos in the series were funded by UK government through the Department for Transport Cluster Development Programme. Businesses interested in having a careers video created should contact Sheldon Ryan via sheldon.ryan@maritimeuksw.org.uk for further information.

‘Navigator’ is aimed at older children and their parents/guardians. It is currently available in print and via download here and will also soon be available as a digital version.
