MSE International is delighted to announce that André Cocuccio has been appointed Co-Chair of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) Special Interest Group (SIG).

Having worked for over a decade across maritime autonomy, regulation, assurance, port readiness and the safe adoption of emerging technologies, this is a fitting appointment for André.

Maritime autonomy is now entering an important phase. The conversation is no longer just about what the technology can do, but how it can be adopted safely, responsibly and usefully across the sector.

With the development of the International Maritime Organization MASS Code, increasing UK policy activity, and growing practical interest in uncrewed and remotely operated systems, there is a real opportunity to help shape how maritime autonomy develops as a credible part of future maritime operations.

The role of the SIG is to bring professional focus, evidence and constructive challenge to that discussion. That means looking not only at technology, but also at safety, regulation, assurance, skills, operational readiness, human factors and the wider capability needed to support adoption.

Congratulations to
André on this important and highly topical appointment.
